SuperSport United have made a decision on the future of the defender Thulani Hlatshwayo following the end of his contract.

The veteran centre-back saw his contract expire on Friday, 30 June.

According to his representative Mike Ntombela, SuperSport have exercised the option on his contract. The former Bafana Bafana captain will remain in Pretoria for another year with his contract set to run out at the end of the upcoming season.

“SuperSport have taken the option of the other year, so he’s still there, he has already started training with them,” Ntombela told FARPost.

It seems like the Swanky Boys coach Gavin Hunt was impressed by Hlatshwayo’s showings last season with the defender bouncing back after a turbulent stint with the Buccaneers.

The former Bidvest Wits skipper accumulated 24 appearances and rattled the back of the net once across all competitions for the Tshwane side last season.
