Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns have advanced in the Carling Knockout Cup.
The three PSL giants got the job done in their Round of 16 fixtures on Tuesday night (27 October).
Here’s what fans had to say as TS Galaxy, Milford FC, and Marumo Gallants were eliminated.
Pirates sink Milford at home
Orlando Pirates brushed aside Milford FC in their clash at the Orlando Stadium.
Tshepang Moremi completed a brace in the first half, with Thapelo Mokobodi adding his team’s third.
It was a complete performance by the Buccaneers, as Sipho Chaine kept another clean sheet.
Moremi’s performance impressed fans, but they felt Pirates had left some opportunities begging.
@Bernecia commented on X:
“Moremi is the man of the match. No questions, no debate🔥🔥”
@Salvato84929752 reacted on X too:
“We want this energy for the Derby okay 🖤🤍🏴☠️”
Chiefs silence doubters against Galaxy
Kaizer Chiefs had a strong response to criticism of their ambitions this season.
The Amakhosi crushed TS Galaxy at the FNB Stadium after a dominant second half.
Wandile Duba was the hero for Chiefs, completing a hat-trick after 66 minutes.
Initial criticism gave way to reluctant praise from some online commenters.
@fezilentshangase commented:
“At Pirates, the players are more serious than the fans. At Kaizer Chiefs, the fans are more serious than the players.”
@khani_hlahla was still hurting from the Red Arrows loss:
“Thank you….but it’s gonna take time to erase pain of getting knocked out of CAF confed ….but I guess we move 😭”
@Lesego72868480 wondered if the criticism had lit a fire in Duba:
“Well done Duba the disrespect by galaxy it seems you are the only 1 that took it personal that’s how all our players should be like.”
Sundowns Hand gallants a slim loss
Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Marumo Gallants, but the performance did not convince fans.
Siyanda Ndlovu scored the game’s only goal at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.
Gallants were never out of the hunt, leaving the door open for a possible comeback.
Fans criticised coach Miguel Cardoso and his players for not putting the game to bed early.
@bonaventurej80 reacted:
“We need a second goal. Let’s learn from Friday match 1-0 lead is not sufficient.”
@PeterMagupta was frank about the performance:
“I miss Peter Shalulile 😭”
@NleyaYandi35265 remarked late in the game:
“Nah man….no we need goals.”
Chiefs, Pirates, and Sundowns will join Sekhukhune United, AmaZulu FC, Siwelele FC, and Golden Arrows in the last 8 of the Carling Knockout Cup.
