Kaizer Chiefs reportedly made an offer to Egyptian side Pyramids for striker Fiston Mayele.

The 30-year-old has been in hot form since joining the Egyptian Premier League. His side Pyramids narrowly lost the league to Al Ahly last season having top of the log for most of the campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs under Nasreddine Nabi have made an offer for Mayele having targeted the player for several months. In his last season at Yanga SC, the Congolese striker scored a total of 31 goals under Nabi and might be tempered to work with his ex-coach.

Pyramids are set to be looking at around R14 million to release their prized striker. According to Phakaaathi, Nabi has told the Chiefs management that he wants Mayele on his team.

Kaizer Chiefs make an offer for Mayele

“Coach (Nasreddine) Nabi has made it clear to the Chiefs management that he wants Mayele and now Chiefs have sent an offer to Pyramids. They’re now waiting for Pyramids to accept or reject it,” a source told Phakaathi.

In recent weeks, Kaizer Chiefs have had their offer for Asanele Velebayi rejected by Cape Town Spurs. The Soweto giants also tried to sign Stellenbosch’s Fawaaz Basadien but were told their offer was too low. Now Amakhosi have turned their attention to Mayele and the club’s former striker Kabamba Musasa has urged the club to sign the Congolese star.

“Kalala will be a good signing for Chiefs without a doubt because it is the coach who wants him, Musasa told KickOff.

“It will be an upgrade for him to move from Pyramids considering the size of the two clubs. I played for Chiefs so I understand what it means to play for a club like that,” he said.

It remains to be seen if Pyramids would take or reject Kaizer Chiefs’ offer. Nabi has previously stated that his side needs to make a few more signings to be competitive this season.

How many signings do Chiefs need to make this season?
