Kaizer Chiefs coach Nabi spotted in Africa

It’s been three weeks since Nasreddine Nabi drove out of the gate at the Kaizer Chiefs village.

The Tunisian coach opted to leave after the club proposed to suspend him over reports of his coaching qualifications being invalid.

The drama occurred on September 17th, a day after the Chiefs’ disastrous 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership at the FNB Stadium.

HOW NASREDDINE NABI LEFT KAIZER CHIEFS

So how did the trouble start? Reports suggest that Nabi received his suspension letter just before taking his team out for training on the morning of the 17th.

Kaizer Chiefs were preparing to begin their CAF Confederation Cup campaign against Kabuscorp in Angola, where competition rules require only coaches holding a CAF A Licence to be on the bench.

Given that regulation, the club decided to suspend the Tunisian mentor, claiming they had already warned him to renew his expiring licence. Nabi, however, insisted that his credentials were still valid and ultimately chose to part ways with the club, saying the trust had been broken.

As reported by The South African, his legal team later informed Kaizer Chiefs’ management that the coach would like to reverse that decision and complete his contract until it expires at the end of the season.

The club, however, is considering a formal disciplinary hearing, which could lead to outright dismissal. Unfortunately, the reports suggest the relationship may be beyond restoration. The upcoming disciplinary process could either restart it or officially end the Tunisian’s stint at the Betway Premiership giants.

SPOTTED IN EGYPT

Meanwhile, Nabi was spotted in Egypt on Sunday evening.

The 60-year-old was in Cairo to watch Pyramids FC beat Rwanda’s APR FC 3-0 in the CAF Champions League second round preliminary qualifiers.

In the meantime, Chiefs’ interim co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze have taken charge of five matches. The results have been one victory, two draws and two defeats.
