Spain produced a dominant display to beat France 2-0. The result secured their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
The reigning European champions controlled the contest from start to finish. They also stretched their remarkable unbeaten run in regular time to 37 consecutive matches. La Roja also kept their sixth clean sheet in seven tournament games.
SPAIN STUN FIFA WORLD CUP FAVOURITES FRANCE
Spain made the breakthrough in the 22nd minute after teenage star Lamine Yamal won a penalty. Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, handing France their first deficit of the tournament.
The setback worsened for Les Bleus when defender William Saliba limped off with a back injury before half-time.
France introduced fresh legs after the break in an attempt to spark Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and the rest of their dangerous attack.
However, Spain remained in complete control. Luis de la Fuente’s side defended with discipline and intensity, limiting France to no shots on target for more than 80 minutes.
The Europeans wrapped up the victory in the 58th minute through a superb team move.
Right-back Pedro Porro exchanged passes with Dani Olmo before making an overlapping run into the penalty area. He then finished calmly to double Spain’s advantage and put the result beyond doubt.
