Mohau Nkota’s agent Karabo Tshabuse has explained why the winger rejoined Orlando Pirates after just one season with Saudi Arabia side Al-Ettifaq.
The 21-year-old is on a season loan until June next year.
Nkota left the Buccaneers for a fee of around R40 to R50 million to join the Saudi outfit. Despite his promising start, he struggled for consistency and the death of his father ultimately affect his season.
Before the end of the season, he suffered an injury which ruled him out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup
His agent, Tshabuse said Nkota’s move to Pirates should be seen as a positive step.
“I think it’s all about what Mohau needs at this particular stage of his career and his life,” she told SABC Sport.
“He has gone through a difficult season following the passing of his father, and coming back home gives him an opportunity to have a support structure around him, and most importantly he will still play professional football at the highest level.”

Tshabuse said the loan spell at Pirates will help Nkota regain his form and fight for his position in the national team.
“The injury did arrive at an unfortunate time, but such is life it’s unpredictable. We believe the loan spell will help in Mohau’s ability to compete again for a spot in the national team and he’s going back to a place where he can get back to his best and rediscover his form.”
