Zim Announce AFCON Squad, Big Absentees Confirmed

Posted on December 11, 2025

New Zimbabwe national team head coach Mario Marinică has his final squad for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations in two weeks, but there was no Khama Billiat, while Marshal Munetsi misses out injured.

Marinică got appointed as the Warriors head coach just a month before the AFCON in Morocco kicks off. The Romanian didn’t have much time to prepare his team, as he only had one FIFA break to get things sorted.

The 26-man squad has been confirmed. Zim will open their tournament against Egypt on 22 December, four days later they will face Angola, then finish the group stages against their neighbors Bafana Bafana.

Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. midfielder Munetsi has been excluded from the squad after picking up an injury in the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile, Billiat is also not been part of the squad after he already missed the 3-1 defeat to Algeria and the 2-1 win over Qatar in November.

Below is Zimbabwe’s squad in full:
