Orlando Pirates are soon to wrap up the signing of Golden Arrows star Siyanda Ndlovu. They’re already stocked in wide areas, so what’s the thinking here?
Orlando Pirates sign another winger
Pirates have wrapped up the signing of in-demand winger Siyanda Ndlovu from Golden Arrows, a player with four goals and six assists from 25 appearances in the league last term. With Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis and Relebohile Mofokeng already at the club, there’s now a seeming oversupply of wide attackers at the club. Ndlovu’s imminent arrival could be the clearest sign yet that 21-year-old Mofokeng’s final form is in the number 10 role. After all, he’ll wear that number for Bafana at the 2026 World Cup. Although Appollis and Moremi are out-and-out wide players, it’s believed that Ndlovu has the tactical nous to become a more central operator.

When quizzed on his next move after a loan spell with Stellenbosch, striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has indicated that no concrete decisions have been made. Sipho Mbule is definitely leaving Pirates, and Ndlovu could well be his indirect replacement.
World Cup fever is about to hit South Africa
The 2026 World Cup is just a week away. Bafana kicks the showpiece off against Mexico on Thursday, 11 June at 21:00 CAT. You’d be forgiven for having a sense of deja vu, given that these sides also played the opener in 2010. Eight Pirates players will represent South Africa in their first World Cup appearance in 16 years.
