Kaizer Chiefs will come up against one of Zimbabwe’s strongest clubs when they take on Scottland FC in the 2026 Toyota Cup on Sunday.
The Glamour Boys face the Zimbabwean champions at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
Although Scottland FC are relatively new on the African football scene, they have quickly established themselves as one of Zimbabwe’s biggest clubs after assembling a squad packed with experienced internationals and former South African Premiership stars.
Scottland FC arrive as Zimbabwean champions
Founded on 1 January 2023, Scottland FC achieved a historic rise by winning the Northern Region Soccer League in 2024.
The club secured the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title in their 2025 debut season.
The club has invested heavily in experienced talent and has become one of the country’s most ambitious sides, attracting several high-profile players with experience in South African football.
Scottland FC comfortably leads the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League standings in first place with 52 points from 24 matches, having dominant form of 15 wins, 7 ties, and only 2 losses.
Musona and Billiat headline Scottland squad
Much of the attention will be on former Kaizer Chiefs stars Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat.
Musona, affectionately known as the “Smiling Assassin,” returns to face the club where he made his name before enjoying successful spells in Germany, Belgium and Saudi Arabia.
Billiat also needs little introduction to Chiefs supporters after spending several seasons at Naturena. The gifted attacker will be eager to impress against his former club.
Their experience at the highest level gives Scottland FC an added dimension and ensures they will not be overawed by the occasion.
More than a friendly for Kaizer Chiefs
While the Toyota Cup is officially a pre-season fixture, it provides Chiefs with another opportunity to test themselves under competitive conditions ahead of the new Betway Premiership campaign.
For Scottland FC, meanwhile, it is a chance to measure themselves against one of Africa’s biggest clubs and showcase the growing strength of Zimbabwean football.
