‘What I told my players at half-time’ – Nabi on how Chiefs beat Arrows

Posted on August 30, 2025

Nasreddine Nabi secured his first win of the season as head coach of Kaizer Chiefs.

The Tunisian was absent in Amakhosi’s first three wins and only returned to the touchline this past Wednesday during his side’s goalless draw with Mamelodi Sundowns.

On Saturday evening, Chiefs defeated Golden Arrows 1-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium to reclaim second spot in the Betway Premiership.

Flavio DaSilva scored the only goal, as Amakhosi kept their fifth successive clean sheet. The Glamour Boys sit on 13 points from the opening five matches.

Nabi revealed what he told his players during half-time when the scores were still level.

“I observed that the mood was down in the dressing room and I told them, not to worry, more focus, more demand – I need them to improve, more passion and you will score.

“The three substitutes gave the team more. It was a very difficult game and I’m very happy for all the staff and I’m happy for the three points.”

Nabi has enjoyed some success at Chiefs despite failing to finish in the top 8. Winning the Nedbank Cup has been his highlight and with the team winning matches, he might challenge for the league as things stands.

Can Chiefs claim the league title?
