Kaizer Chiefs look set to remain active in the transfer market despite already completing two signings ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The club have already secured central defender Thabo Moloisane and goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner.
Former Amakhosi co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef recently revealed that he submitted the club’s end-of-season technical report after the club finished third last season. The report analysed the squad and highlighted areas that required reinforcement.
Speaking on Metro FM, Ben Youssef said he recommended that the club sign five players. The list included a left winger, left-back, central defender, midfielder and goalkeeper.
With Moloisane and Leaner already through the door, Kaizer Chiefs appear to have addressed two of those positions. That leaves at least three more areas that could still be strengthened before the transfer window closes.
THREE POSITIONS REMAIN FOR KAIZER CHIEFS
A left winger remains one of the club’s reported priorities. Amakhosi have been linked with Stellenbosch FC winger Langelihle Phili, who enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Betway Premiership.
The left-back position could also receive attention, with Sekhukhune United defender Vuyo Letlapa among the players linked with a move to Naturena. The talented defender has attracted interest following his consistent performances.
Kaizer Chiefs are also expected to strengthen their midfield. TS Galaxy midfielder Jamie Webber has emerged as another reported target as the club continue planning for the new season.
Whether Amakhosi complete all three deals remains to be seen. But Ben Youssef’s technical report suggests the club’s recruitment drive may not be over.
FOUR PLAYERS RELEASED
Kaizer Chiefs have already released four players as part of their squad rebuild ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season. The Sporting Director has started reshaping the squad by parting ways with midfielders George Matlou and Happy Mashiane, while striker Tashreeq Morris also left the club earlier this month.
Academy graduate Aden McCarthy has completed a move to Europe, bringing his time at Naturena to an end.
More departures are expected before the transfer window closes, with Gaston Sirino, Fiacre Ntwari, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Pule Mmodi and Ashley Du Preez all linked with exits as Amakhosi continue making room for new signings.
