Global transfer expert Ekrem Kanour has revealed that the two Portuguese clubs are keeping a close eye on the Bafana Bafana defender, with a potential move in January now on the radar.
“Braga & Famalicão scouts closely monitoring Khulumani Ndamane. Tracking player’s progress under watch. January potential move on the radar.”
The reported interest comes after a rapid rise for Ndamane, who has gone from the Kaizer Chiefs Academy to becoming an important player for Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana.
KHULUMANI NDAMANE’S RAPID RISE TO MAMELODI SUNDOWNS
Born in Sahlumbe, KwaZulu-Natal, the 22-year-old first attracted attention through his performances in regional youth football before joining the Kaizer Chiefs youth structures in 2023.
The central defender progressed from the Under-19 side into the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) reserve team. Despite showing considerable potential, his route into the Kaizer Chiefs senior team remained blocked, prompting him to search for regular top-flight football elsewhere.
That opportunity arrived in June 2024, when Ndamane joined TS Galaxy. The move proved to be a major turning point. During his debut 2024/25 campaign, he made 27 league appearances and helped TS Galaxy finish fifth in the Premiership.
His composure on the ball, ability to read the game and line-breaking distribution quickly established him as one of the club’s standout defenders.
His performances also earned him international recognition, with Ndamane making his Bafana Bafana debut against Tanzania in June 2025.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STAR NOW ON EUROPEAN RADAR
Ndamane quickly became part of the Bafana Bafana setup under coach Hugo Broos, featuring in important FIFA World Cup qualifiers and earning selection for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
His rapid progression eventually led to a major move in January 2026, when Sundowns secured his services during the mid-season transfer window.
Since arriving at Chloorkop, Ndamane has stepped up to the highest level of club football in Africa. He helped Mamelodi Sundowns secure the CAF Champions League title and has also gained experience in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
Now, his performances for Sundowns have reportedly attracted the attention of Braga and Famalicão. According to Ekrem Kanour, both Portuguese clubs are closely monitoring the defender, while a potential January move is already being considered.
For Sundowns, the reported European interest is another indication of Ndamane’s rapid development since leaving the Chiefs Academy.
