Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly tabled an offer for highly-rated Stellenbosch FC winger Langelihle Phili. The 20-year-old winger enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, scoring seven goals and registering one assist.
The Soweto giants are not only looking to sign the talented attacker but are also prepared to offer several fringe players to Stellenbosch FC in an effort to complete the deal. Fernando Da Cruz is eager to bolster his attacking options before the new campaign gets underway.
LANGELIHLE PHILI TO KAIZER CHIEFS
According to SABC Sport journalist Mazola Molefe, Kaizer Chiefs have already made their move for the exciting youngster.
Speaking on SABC Sport, Molefe said: “I’ve got some breaking news regarding Kaizer Chiefs. There’s a lot happening inside that Naturena camp, and one of them is their interest in Langelihle Phili at Stellies.
“I can tell you 100% guaranteed fact that Kaizer Chiefs have indeed tabled an offer for the player. They’re trying to also move a couple of their fringe players over to Stellies as well, a bit of a swap deal.

“The under-23 international has turned a lot of heads in recent times and Amakhosi are hell-bent on getting him on their books as part of coach Fernando Da Cruz’s new squad makeup.”
Born on 21 January 2005 in Tshelimnyama, Phili began his football journey in the AmaZulu FC academy before joining Stellenbosch FC, where he quickly established himself as one of South Africa’s brightest young talents.
The speedy winger announced himself in 2023 after winning both the Player of the Tournament and Striker of the Tournament awards at the Engen Champ of Champs. He also helped Stellenbosch FC‘s reserve side win the Engen Knockout Challenge, the DStv Diski Challenge and the Premier League Next Generation Cup.
IMPRESSED FOR CLUB AND COUNTRY
Steve Barker handed Phili his senior debut after the winger signed his first professional contract in September 2024. He made an immediate impact by scoring on his debut against Nsingizini Hotspurs in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Meanwhile, his impressive displays earned him a call-up to the South Africa Under-20 side. He played a key role as Amajita lifted the 2025 U-20 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, securing qualification for the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
With Kaizer Chiefs now willing to include players in the deal, negotiations could intensify as Amakhosi look to beat any competition for one of the Betway Premiership’s most exciting young attackers.
