Three positions Mayo can play at Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs have landed Khanyisa Mayo, and the real question now is: where will he play?

The Betway Premiership giants unveiled the Umthatha-born forward as their 11th new signing of the season, completing a squad overhaul big enough to form a whole new team.

“Kaizer Chiefs are proud to announce the one-year loan signing of Khanyisa Mayo, who returns to South Africa after a season with CR Belouizdad in Algeria,” Amakhosi confirmed.

VERSATILE KHANYISA MAYO AT KAIZER CHIEFS

At Cape Town City, Richards Bay and CR Belouizdad, he built a reputation as a forward who can hurt you in three different roles. As an out-and-out striker, he produced 21 goals and five assists in just 57 games.

Shifted to the right wing, and he delivered seven goals and two assists in 26 appearances. Even on the left, he chipped in with three goals and an assist across 19 matches.

At Cape Town City, Mayo turned himself into a star, scoring 29 goals with six assists overall. He even bagged the PSL Top Scorer award in 2022/23 with 12 goals, forcing Mamelodi Sundowns to take notice. Now he brings that quality to Naturena, where he’ll slot into a frontline already brimming with new names like Flavio Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro, and Asanele Velebayi.

The big decision will rest on coach Nasreddine Nabi. Will Mayo be used as a central striker to lead the line? Or will his pace and movement out wide give Kaizer Chiefs a new dimension in attack?

WHERE DO AMAKHOSI NEED HIM THE MOST?
