Three more players to be sent home

Three Springboks will be cut from the current squad.

The Springboks are set for two decisive Test matches against Argentina in the Rugby Championship on 27 September at Kings Park in Durban and on 4 October 2025.

Meanwhile, Rassie Erasmus recently named his 33-man Springboks squad for their remaining two Rugby Championship Tests. However, you can expect a couple of changes to the squad over the next few days and weeks.

SPRINGBOKS COULD ADD A FEW PLAYERS

As reported on The South African, the Springboks will be naming a 30-man squad for their final Test of the Rugby Championship against Argentina in London.

Meaning, THREE players in the current squad will be sent home.

It remains to be seen which players will be sent home. However, a minimum of three Boks will be excluded from the 30-man squad for the trip to London.

Furthermore, this number could grow to as high as six if more players are added to the Springboks squad.

Additionally, leading reports have confirmed that up to three players could be added to the squad.

This is because Aphelele Fassi, Lood de Jager, and Jean-Luc Du Preez have all been ruled out. So, if three players are added, then six players will be omitted from the travelling squad heading to London.

BOKS LIKELY TO BE SENT HOME

As things stand, Faf de Klerk, Makazole Mapimpi, and Marnus van der Merwe are the Springboks likely to be sent home.

Ultimately, it will come down to whether or not Rassie wants to give Faf a run or if he wants to see Morne van den Berg as his third-choice scrumhalf. Grant Williams and Cobus Reinach have excelled in the number nine jersey for the Boks this season.

33-MAN BOKS SQUAD FOR THE ARGENTINA LEG OF THE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP:

Forwards – Pieter-Steph du Toit, Thomas du Toit, Eben Etzebeth, Vincent Koch, Siya Kolisi, Wilco Louw, Malcolm Marx, Bongi Mbonambi, Franco Mostert, Ox Nche, Ruan Nortje, Kwagga Smith, RG Snyman, Marnus van der Merwe, Marco van Staden, Boan Venter, Jan-Hendrik Wessels, Jasper Wiese.

Backs – Damian de Allende, Faf de Klerk, Andre Esterhuizen, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Ethan Hooker, Cheslin Kolbe, Jesse Kriel, Manie Libbok, Makazole Mapimpi, Canan Moodie, Handré Pollard, Cobus Reinach, Morne van den Berg, Damian Willemse, Grant Williams.
