Bafana Bafana star Mbekezeli Mbokazi has tongues wagging around the world, and rightly so. With a move to Europe being touted, it’s difficult not to get excited.
Mbokazi is expected to leave the MLS
Via Siseko Gwegwe, outstanding 20-year-old defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi is wanted by Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Mbokazi moved to the Chicago Fire in the MLS in January this year, but many expected that switch to serve as a stepping stone. His former Orlando Pirates teammate Rele Mofokeng is a rumoured target for German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

X, formerly known as Twitter (although does anybody actually call it X?), never disappoints when Bafana is in action. Although our national side fell short against Canada, there were crumbs of comfort. Mbekezeli Mbokazi is arguably the biggest positive emerging from the tournament. The 20-year-old earned rave reviews for his stellar defensive displays. Now, seemingly, the guy is already a celebrity around South Africa. Nicknamed ‘TLB’ for his aggressive, heavy-duty playing style, Mbokazi is also a wonderfully clean distributor of a football with that cultured left foot.
