Mamelodi Sundowns star Peter Shalulile netted all three goals in Namibia’s 3-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe on Tuesday evening.
The new Premier Soccer League all-time record goal scorer continued his fine form, netting a hat-trick to hand the Brave Warriors an important win.
The victory saw Namibia move to 15 points from eight games in Group H, helping them to open a four-point gap on third-placed Liberia.
The four best second-placed teams from the African FIFA World Cup qualifiers will be drawn into two semi-finals, with the winners playing for one spot in the inter-confederation playoffs.
With Namibia in second place behind Tunisia, who already qualified, they could potentially secure a spot in the playoffs.
Namibia still face third-placed Liberia, who sit on 11 points, as well as Group H leaders Tunisia, who have collected 22 points already, in their final two qualifying fixtures.
