Mamelodi Sundowns academy graduate Siyabonga Mabena is reportedly on the verge of joining Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit AmaTuks on a season-long loan.
According to Lorenz Köhler of iDiski Times, the two clubs have reached advanced negotiations over a temporary move. The deal aims to give the highly-rated teenager consistent first-team minutes during the upcoming campaign.
The move would mark an important step in Mabena’s development after spending the past few seasons competing for a place in one of the strongest squads in the .
The 19-year-old has already made 25 senior appearances for Sundowns across all competitions and has scored two goals. However, he has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular starter under head coach Miguel Cardoso.
Sundowns boast one of the deepest attacking departments in South African football, making opportunities difficult for young players.
A loan spell at AmaTuks would allow Mabena to play regularly while continuing his development in a competitive environment. The talented winger has long ranked among the country’s brightest prospects, with his dribbling ability earning widespread praise.
