SportyTV Secures 2026 FIFA World Cup Pay Broadcast Rights In South Africa
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

SportyTV has confirmed it has secured the FIFA World Cup 2026 broadcast rights in South Africa, in a deal that will see all 104 matches of the tournament made available to local audiences on a Pay TV basis.

The agreement represents a major escalation for the platform, which entered the South African market less than 12 months ago through the broadcast of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

The World Cup deal positions SportyTV as a significant player in one of Africa’s most competitive sports media landscapes.

All matches will be broadcast across SportyTV’s OTT platform, distributed through major television ecosystems, and available via its mobile app on Android and iOS.

The platform has confirmed it will produce comprehensive pre and post-match programming from studios in Cape Town and Madrid, with a line-up of commentators and pundits to be announced in due course.

SportyTV will also deploy dedicated production crews across the United States, Canada, and Mexico to follow Bafana Bafana throughout the tournament, providing on-the-ground coverage from the opening match through to the final stages.

“We are building an ecosystem where content, technology, and engagement converge to deliver something entirely new to fans. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is the perfect stage to showcase that vision,” Elías Gallego, VP of Business Development, Marketing & Media, Sporty Group said.

The 2026 World Cup is set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico and will be the first edition to feature 48 teams, with 104 matches played across the three host nations.
