Sibisi Reacts To Sundowns Defeat
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Reddit

Orlando Pirates captain Nkosinathi Sibisi has admitted that they were left to rue their missed chances in their Betway Premiership defeat to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

The two sides clashed in a top-of-the-table encounter at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night with Masandawana coming out victorious.

The Buccaneers faced an uphill task to get themselves back in the game after trailing 2-0 at the break thanks to Colombian striker Brayan León Muñiz’s double.

Patrick Maswanganyi did pull one back for the home side but Sundowns held on to claim maximum points and cut the gap at the top to just three points with a game in hand.

Sibisi feels as though their failure to capitalise earleir on in the match cost them the three points.

“It’s a pill to swallow, I don’t know how I can explain the game how it went,” he told OP TV.

“We got a couple of chances in the first half. I think before they scored, we should’ve been 2-0 or 3-0 up.

“I think that’s been the story of our season not being able to convert those chances but take nothing away from the performance. I think the boys came out in the second half willing to fight.

“And I think in the first half we were a little bit conservative. I think we started off to an immediate high block.”

Abdeslam Ouaddou’s troops will be back at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday as they look to seal passage into the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals when they take on Casric Stars.
