Rwanda Coach – Chiefs Should Let Him Go

Rwanda head coach Adel Amoruche believes Kaizer Chiefs should let Fiacre Ntwari leaves if there’s no plans to play him regularly.

His senior national team number one goalkeeper has been hailed as one of the best on the continent, which the Algerian mentor believes deserves to be playing regular first team football – even if it means leaving Chiefs.

Ntwari who joined the club at the start of last season after establishing himself as one of the finest stoppers in the league during his time with TS Galaxy – has endured a tumultous spell at Amakhosi, which took a sour turn last week.

He was called off to be replaced before the penalty shoot-out in the Carling Knockout against Stellenbosch for Bruce Bvuma but refused to leave the pitch, which could see him facing an uncertain future at the club, as reported in the latest edition of iDiski Times online newspaper.

Now Amrouche has come out to suggest it could be better for his career, for him to get another opportunity elsewhere, as he currently finds himself behind Brandon Petersen in the current pecking order.

“I had a good discussion with Ilyes [Mzoughi], I can’t interfere in the work of coaches, only to communicate and how to maintain Fiacre in good shape and also in that level of competition, it’s not easy – I’m happy to have that level of collaboration with coaches everywhere, especially with the coaches at Kaizer Chiefs,” Amrouche said.

“Coach Nabi and Ilyes, the goalkeeper coach, we will respect the coach who he plays, this is football and it’s up to the coach, but for Fiacre, in my opinion, is one of the best goalkeepers in Africa – he is a very talented, very disciplined.

“Very positive, I’ve never heard anything negative about his club, he loves the club, has very good contact with the teammates and also in his team, everyone loves him – it’s difficult he found me in the team because I give him confidence as well as the team, to be number one in the team.

“I wish him all the best – I can’t talk because I respect the goalkeeper who plays and the work at the club, but I think if they don’t let him play – let him go, it’s better they don’t stop the quality of one player like Fiacre.”

The 26-year-old has featured 24 times for Rwanda, keeping seven clean sheets since making his senior national team debut back in 2021.
