Report! Bafana Bafana defender sign pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs

Posted on January 11, 2026

Stellenbosch and Bafana Bafana defender Thabo Moloisane has reportedly signed a pre-contract with the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs.

The 26-year-old talented defender was part of the Bafana squad that qualified for the FIFA World Cup, although he was left out of the team for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

After spending three years with the Cape Winelands team, Moloisane may finally be making a significant move. He has been consistent over the past few years and has been hailed as one of the league’s best defenders.

Previously, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates were linked with the former Maritzburg United player.

Can Kaizer Chiefs add another Bafana defender to their roster?

In 2024, Amakhosi signed Rushwin Sortley from Cape Town Spurs, but the defender only played half a season before an injury sidelined him.

He hasn’t made an appearance for the Soweto giants in nearly a year, which might lead the club to seek more experience in their defensive lineup.

This season, Chiefs have primarily relied on Miguel Inacio and Aden McCarthy in defence. However, their pairing has not been convincing, which could be a reason why the club has decided to explore other options.

According to Soccer Beat, Kaizer Chiefs have indeed signed a pre-contract with the Bafana star. “Stellenbosch defender Thabo Moloisane is understood to have signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs and looks set to join the Soweto giants at the end of the season,” the publication reported.

Do you think Moloisane can transform Chiefs at the back?
