Relebohile Mofokeng becomes Orlando Pirates’ NINTH departure: Full list updated
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Reddit

Orlando Pirates’ ninth – and latest – departure is their biggest yet.

And it appears that coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and Bucs management are not done with their squad overhaul ahead of the new season.

MOFOKENG AGREES DEAL WITH BELGIUM GIANTS

Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana sensation Relebohile Mofokeng is heading to Europe.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of Relebohile Mofokeng,” Orlando Pirates confirmed on Wednesday.

Here is the fully updated list of Bucs departures:

  • Relebohile Mofokeng
  • Thabiso Lebitso
  • Sipho Mbule
  • Tshegofatso Mabasa
  • Bandile Shandu
  • Karim Kimvuidi
  • Deivi Miguel Vieira (Gilberto)
  • Gomolemo Khoto
  • Siyabonga Ndlozi

MOFOKENG ATTRACTED GLOBAL INTEREST BUT HE HAD ALREADY SIGNED

Mofokeng also reportedly attracted interest from German Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen.

However, Orlando Pirates have confirmed that the he signed for Union SG before FIFA World Cup 2026.

‘The club can also reveal that an agreement in principle between Orlando Pirates and Union Saint-Gilloise was in fact reached before the start of the FIFA World Cup,’ Orlando Pirates added.

So, the deal is now complete, but it was already agreed in principle before Mofokeng’s World Cup departure.

REPORT: HUGE OFFER FROM FC PORTO FOR BUCS SPEEDSTER

Meanwhile, another Orlando Pirates attacker who played a key role at the ongoing FIFA World Cup was Oswin Appollis.

Surprisingly, he did not start the opener against Mexico.

However, he started the remaining group matches against Czech Republic and South Korea before featuring again in the historic Round of 32 clash against Canada.

He was consistent, calm and composed throughout the tournament.

It therefore comes as no surprise that he has also attracted interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Tabled an offer

As reported by The South African, Portuguese giants FC Porto have tabled a R74 million offer for the Bucs winger.

Mofokeng and Appollis first starred in the Betway Premiership, helping inspire Orlando Pirates to their first league title in more than 14 years.

They then elevated their performances on football’s biggest stage at the FIFA World Cup.

Now, two of Mayfair’s biggest products have the opportunity of a lifetime to take the next step in their careers and play in Europe.

Mofokeng has taken his. The question is, will Appollis sign for FC Porto?

DO YOU THINK THIS IS THE RIGHT MOVE FOR RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG?
