The Citizens have confirmed the appointment after weeks of speculation, handing the 37-year-old former Kaizer Chiefs coach the responsibility of leading the club into a campaign that includes domestic football and the CAF Confederation Cup.
DURBAN CITY CONFIRM BEN YOUSSEF APPOINTMENT
Durban City said Ben Youssef brings extensive coaching experience from across Africa and the Middle East, having previously worked at AS FAR Rabat, Young Africans SC, Club Africain and Al Ahli SC.
The coach is also familiar with South African football after spending the past two seasons with Kaizer Chiefs, where he initially formed part of Nasreddine Nabi’s technical team before serving as co-coach alongside Cédric Kaze.
Club chairman Farook Kadodia welcomed the appointment.
“Khalil is a coach with strong experience, excellent technical knowledge and a clear understanding of the modern game. We believe he is the right person to lead the next phase of Durban City Football Club’s journey.
“We are confident that Khalil possesses the leadership, character and football philosophy required to help us achieve our ambitions, and we are delighted to welcome him to Durban City FC.”
FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS COACH READY FOR NEW CHALLENGE
Ben Youssef expressed his excitement after taking over at Durban City.

The appointment comes after an eventful 2025/26 season for Durban City, which culminated in victory in the Nedbank Cup and qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
