Pirates See Off All Stars To Clinch Black Label Cup

Posted on December 14, 2025

Orlando Pirates became the first Carling Knockout Cup champions to lift the Carling Black Label Cup after they beat the Carling All-Stars 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Mfundo Vilakazi created half a chance for the All-Stars team as he whipped in a cross inside the Pirates box in the 10th minute which forced Melusi Buthelezi to punch it away from danger.

The live-wire winger was then clutched from the back moments later by Makhehleni Makhaula in the 18-yard box, but the referee waved play on.

In the 67th minute, Mduduzi Shabalala as his effort from close range deflected for a corner kick.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 68th minute as super-sub Sifiso Luthuli came off the bench to make it 1-0 for Pirates.

Another substitute in Boitumelo Radiopane got his name on the scoresheet in the 79th minute after outpacing the All-Stars defence before placing his effort in the bottom left corner to make it 2-0.

The victory marked another trophy win for head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and his charges after their CKC just last weekend.
