
Orlando Pirates have been busy in the transfer market with several high-profile ins and outs. Here’s a recap in case you missed them.
Orlando Pirates sign four new stars
The new champions have snapped up four new signings as they start their title defence preparations in earnest. In come midfielder Mthetheleli Mthiyane, defender Sbangani Zulu, and wide attackers Bohlale Ngwato and Ghampani Lungu.

“After weeks of speculation and countless headlines across the football social media landscape, Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm the signings of Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), as well as Bohlale Ngwato and Ghampani Lungu (both from Siwelele).
Five departures confirmed
Pirates have also waved goodbye to five players. Sipho Mbule is the most eye-catching of those names. In 12 appearances, the popular midfielder failed to register any goals or assist. The former Sundowns man leaves after just a year at the club, while former Golden Boot winner Tshegofatso Mabasa also departs.
“The players who will be leaving the Club upon the conclusion of their respective contracts are Bandile Shandu, Sipho Mbule, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Karim Kimvuidi and Deivi Miguel Vieira (Gilberto).
“Each of the players departs having contributed to the Orlando Pirates journey in their own way, and the Club would like to place on record its appreciation for their service during their time with the Buccaneers.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club thanks Bandile, Sipho, Tshegofatso, Karim and Gilberto for their service and wishes them all the best in the next chapters of their respective careers.”
