Orlando Pirates legend used as benchmark for Arrows captain

Orlando Pirates are linked with several players from PSL rivals. Some may have already signed.

Orlando Pirates are already laying the groundwork for the upcoming PSL transfer window, with several potential arrivals on the radar.

While nothing is final yet, one thing is clear – there will be movement at Mayfair. So, who could be heading to the Buccaneers?

FULL LIST OF ORLANDO PIRATES TARGETS

  • Ayanda Jiyane (Golden Arrows)
  • Siyanda Ndlovu (Golden Arrows)
  • Ayabulela Maxwele (Golden Arrows)
  • Bohlale Ngwato (Siwelele FC)

MIDFIELD REINFORCEMENTS A PRIORITY

As reported on The South African, Orlando Pirates are closing in on Golden Arrows midfield duo Siyanda Ndlovu and Ayabulela Maxwele. Talks are believed to be at an advanced stage, making these deals increasingly likely.

Both players would add much-needed depth and balance in midfield. Importantly, they also represent a shift towards younger, long-term options.

Ndlovu, just 22, is a creative force. He combines sharp vision with precise passing and carries a real attacking threat. Moreover, he is confident in possession and capable of unlocking tight defences.

Maxwele, meanwhile, offers composure. At 25, he is entering his prime and brings control in high-pressure situations. He understands when to dictate play and when to slow things down.

Additionally, Kick Off has reported that Golden Arrows captain Ayanda Jiyane could be joining the Bucs too.

“Pirates is getting players from Arrows. Jiyane could be amongst those players joining Pirates next season,” said the source.

Meaning, if that happens, Orlando Pirates could secure three players from Abafana Bes’thende.

ATTACKING OPTIONS ALSO UNDER REVIEW

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are reportedly closing in on Siwelele FC winger Bohlale Ngwato.

The 20-year-old is quick, direct and fearless in attack. However, breaking into the starting XI will not be easy for the Siwelele attacker.

The Buccaneers already boast pace out wide, with Oswin Appollis, Relebohile Mofokeng and Tshepang Moremi all offering explosive options. So, if they sign Ngwato it would be to provide more depth and cover outwide.

WORLD CUP FACTOR COULD SHIFT PLANS

However, the upcoming FIFA World Cup could influence everything.

Players like Mofokeng and Appollis are expected to be part of Bafana Bafana’s squad. Consequently, strong performances on the global stage could attract overseas interest.

If that happens, Orlando Pirates may need to accelerate their recruitment drive.

FINAL THOUGHT

This transfer window is shaping up to be a defining one.

The Bucs are not just adding numbers – they are building for the future while preparing for potential departures.

Orlando Pirates want to compete for the BetWay Premiership title every year – not just occasionally and they want to be competitive in Africa (in CAF football) too. Therefore, squad depth across the park is essential.

WHICH OF THESE PLAYERS SHOULD ORLANDO PIRATES SIGN AND WHO SHOULDN’T THEY SIGN?
