Orlando Pirates slam R31m Mofokeng transfer rumors

Posted on June 19, 2025

Orlando Pirates have firmly dismissed speculation linking their star winger Relebohile Mofokeng to a R31.2 million (€1.5 million) move to Israeli clubs Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The reports, which originated from Israeli outlet Sport5, claimed the 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international was being targeted by the two clubs, with Maccabi Haifa reportedly leading the race.
Club insiders expressed frustration at the rumors, labeling them as baseless. “No formal contact or offer has been made by either club, and no negotiations are happening,” a source told MDN News.
Pirates reiterated their commitment to handling transfer matters professionally and privately, distancing themselves from the speculation.
Mofokeng, a standout performer for the Soweto giants, has attracted attention for his dazzling performances, but the club remains focused on nurturing their young talent.
For now, Pirates fans can breathe easy knowing their rising star isn’t headed abroad just yet.
