Orlando Pirates conclude their pre-season in Spain after three weeks of intensive training.
The team played a number of high profile teams, earning two wins and will return home full of confidence having impressed not just only the technical team but fans.
All their games were broadcasted on their YouTube channel, giving the fans a taste of what’s to come for next season.
So far, Orlando Pirates have made seven new signings but have been linked with a few players in recent weeks.
One of the players likely to join the Buccaneers is Thabang Matuludi.
KickOff reported that Polokwane City were currently weighing up offers from both Orlando Pirates and Sundowns.
“The boss wants a little bit of space to choose the right offer for both the player and the club.
“He has agreed to sell the player and he is expected to leave the club,” a source told the publication.
From a football perspective, Orlando Pirates may present the more attractive destination for Matuludi. The Buccaneers are looking to strengthen at right-back and could offer him a clearer path to regular first-team football.
Currently, Deano van Rooyen and Kamohelo Sebelebele are Pirates’ recognised options on the right side of defence, although Sebelebele is also capable of playing further forward. That could open the door for Matuludi to compete immediately for a starting role.
Which Orlando Pirates players could leave?
The club parted ways with the likes of Sipho Mbule and Thabiso Lebitso last month but it wouln’t be a surprise if the Buccaneers announce more departures.
Boitumelo Radiopane, who has not featured much under Abdeslam Ouaddou last season, was linked to a potential permanent exit as the club looks for a top striker.
His impressive two goals in Spain has now almost cemented his stay for next season and might warrant a start next weekend when the Betway Premiership kicks off.
Oswin Appollis was tipped to leave Orlando Pirates after the FIFA World Cup but it appears he might stay for another season. He was given a few days off after the tournament but later joined the squad in Spain thus confirming that he will stay in Mayfair.
Ex-Bucs captain Tapelo Xoki wasn’t played much in two years however, he has extended his stay.
