Orlando Pirates have let go of former Sundowns man Sipho Mbule after just a season at the club. They’re not mucking about in terms of replacing him, though.
Pirates snap up Ndlovu
Pirates have wrapped up the signing of in-demand winger Siyanda Ndlovu from Golden Arrows. With four goals and six assists from 25 appearances in the league last term, he’s been in demand. Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis and Relebohile Mofokeng are already at the club, so here’s now a seeming oversupply of wide attackers on the books. Ndlovu’s imminent arrival could be the clearest sign yet that 21-year-old Mofokeng’s final form is in the number 10 role. After all, he’ll wear that number for Bafana at the 2026 World Cup. Although Appollis and Moremi are out-and-out wide players, it’s believed that Ndlovu could be used centrally as a replacement for Mbule, whose output of zero goals and zero assists from 12 league outings was underwhelming to say the least.

What’s Mabasa’s next move?
When quizzed on his next move after a loan spell with Stellenbosch, striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has indicated that no concrete decisions have been made. Despite his output of four goals in 14 outings, the Winelands side has said it won’t be signing the 29-year-old permanently. Another man who’s left the building is Sipho Mbule, whose contract has expired. Pirates have chosen not to extend the 28-year-old’s deal.
