Orlando Pirates’ expected starting 11 vs Durban City
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Orlando Pirates are 90 minutes away from becoming the 2025/26 Beway Premiership, thanks to TS Galaxy’s 3-2 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Standing in the way of the Sea Robbers’ first league title since 2012 are Durban City FC at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday at 15:00.

ORLANDO PIRATES STARTING LINE UP TO EXPECT AGAINST DURBAN CITY

Barring injuries or suspensions, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou will select an unchanged starting line up after the assured 3-0 win over Magesi FC last Saturday.

Goalkeeper: Sipho Chaine, Right back: Kamogelo Sebelebele, Central defender: Nkosinathi Sibisi (c), Central defender: Lebone Seema, Left back: Deon Hotto, Central midfielder: Makhehleni Makhaula, Central midfielder: Thalente Mbatha, Attacking midfielder: Patrick Maswanganyi, Left winger: Relebohile Mofokeng, Right winger: Oswin Appollis, Striker: Evidence Makgopa.

THE BUCCANEERS HOLD THE MOMENTUM

Orlando Pirates will enter Saturday’s showdown with confidence after already defeating Durban City earlier this season. The Buccaneers secured a controlled 2-0 victory at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in November, with Evidence Makgopa and Patrick Maswanganyi getting on the scoresheet.

Current form also heavily favours the home side. Pirates are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches and have strengthened their title push with convincing recent victories over Magesi FC and Stellenbosch FC. Across the campaign, they have collected 20 wins while suffering only three defeats.

Durban City, meanwhile, arrive under pressure domestically after failing to win any of their last six Betway Premiership fixtures. Their most recent league outing ended in a goalless draw against Stellenbosch FC, further slowing their momentum in the race for a top-eight finish.

Despite that poor run, the visitors still carry cup-winning confidence after lifting the 2026 Nedbank Cup with victory over TS Galaxy. That recent success could make them dangerous opponents as they look to spoil what could become a historic afternoon for Pirates.
