Orlando Pirates departures: Three players join PSL rivals
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Reddit

Orlando Pirates have offloaded a total of nine players to date, three of whom have already found new clubs within the PSL.

On Wednesday, the Buccaneers confirmed their latest departure, Relebohile Mofokeng.

Mofokeng is heading to Europe, where he will play for Union SG in Belgium.

THREE PLAYERS JOIN PSL RIVALS, TWO MOVE ABROAD

Thabiso Lebitso, Gomolemo Khoto and Siyabonga Ndlozi have all joined PSL rivals since leaving Orlando Pirates.

Lebitso will play for Stellenbosch FC next season, while Khoto and Ndlozi will turn out for Sekhukhune United.

That means that Orlando Pirates could come up against a trio of their former players next season as they look to defend their Betway Premiership title.

A total of five of the club’s departures have now secured moves to new clubs.

In addition to the above trio, Sipho Mbule has joined Iraqi side Zakho, and, as mentioned, Mofokeng has completed his move to Belgian outfit Union SG.

FOUR FREE AGENTS, EX-KAIZER CHIEFS COACH CLOSING IN ON EX-BUCS STAR

That leaves Bandile Shandu, Karim Kimvuidi, Deivi Miguel Vieira (Gilberto) and Tshegofatso Mabasa as free agents.

However, Shandu appears close to joining Betway Premiership newcomers Durban City.

“For Bandile Shandu, we are close to concluding a deal with Durban City,” his agent Mike Makaab stated on FARPost.

“Talks are at an advanced stage, and we are hoping to finalize everything during the course of this week,” he concluded.

If the deal goes through, the former Orlando Pirates star will play under former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Khalil Ben Youssef who was recently appointed as Durban City’s new coach following his Amakhosi exit.

Meanwhile, Mabasa is not short of potential suitors.

The ex-Bafana Bafana and Bucs attacker has been reportedly linked to Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu, Moroccan-outfit Maghreb Fez and Al Ittihad Tripoli (now coached by Rhulani Mokwena).

Which departing player will Orlando Pirates miss most?
