Official transfer: Kaizer Chiefs announce first signing of the season

Kaizer Chiefs made the announcement via social media on Thursday, just 24 hours after confirming the club’s new head coach Fernando Da Cruz.

“SIGNED. Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to welcome Thabo Moloisane to Naturena,” the note said.

“Born in Meadowlands, Soweto, the centre-back joins us from Stellenbosch FC, bringing 115 appearances, two Bafana call-ups, and continental experience to the Gold & Black. Welcome to Amakhosi, Thabo,” the statement added.

WHAT KAIZER CHIEFS ARE GETTING IN THABO MOLOISANE

Moloisane’s rise through South African football has been built on steady progression rather than hype. The central defender developed in the Mamelodi Sundowns academy before making his breakthrough in senior football with Cape Town All Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

His performances earned him a move to Maritzburg United. It was where he quickly established himself in the Betway Premiership, making 27 appearances before securing a transfer to Stellenbosch FC in July 2023.

Moloisane went on to enjoy an outstanding spell in the Cape Winelands. He featured in 115 matches and playing a key role in the club’s success.

During his time at Stellies, he lifted the Carling Knockout trophy, helped the team finish third in the 2023/24 Betway Premiership season, reached back-to-back MTN8 finals in 2024 and 2025, and featured in their run to the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals. His consistency also earned him two senior Bafana Bafana caps.

AMAKHOSI’S STELLENBOSCH PIPELINE CONTINUES

Kaizer Chiefs have repeatedly turned to Stellenbosch FC in the transfer market, with the relationship between the two clubs becoming increasingly evident in recent years.

Defender Zitha Kwinika and forward Ashley Du Preez both swapped the Cape Winelands for Naturena in 2022, while midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa followed in 2023. Moloisane now becomes the latest player to make that journey.

His arrival further strengthens a central defensive unit that blends experience with youth. Chiefs can now call on Aden McCarthy (22), Rushwin Dortley (24), Inácio Miguel (30), Given Msimango (29), Zitha Kwinika (32) and Moloisane as they continue reshaping the squad ahead of the new campaign.

WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF KAIZER CHIEFS’ FIRST SIGNING AND WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR THE REST OF THE TRANSFER WINDOW?
