Official: Kaizer Chiefs say goodbye to a FOURTH player

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed their fourth player departure ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season after announcing that Tashreeq Morris has left the club by mutual consent.

The experienced striker follows Aden McCarthy, who recently completed his move to Sabah FK in Europe, while George Matlou and Happy Mashiane also left after their contracts were not renewed.

The Betway Premiership giants confirmed the news in a statement on Friday, bringing an end to Morris’ six-month spell at Naturena.

“Following constructive discussions between the Club and the player, Kaizer Chiefs and Tashreeq Morris have mutually agreed to terminate their contract.

“This amicable decision grants Morris the opportunity to pursue the next chapter of his career and join a team of his choice.

“We wish Tashreeq success in his future endeavours,” the club said.

SHORT STAY AT KAIZER CHIEFS

Morris joined Kaizer Chiefs in January 2025 from SuperSport United. The move formed part of a straight swap deal that saw Christian Saile head in the opposite direction.

Former coach Nasreddine Nabi wanted more experience and physical presence in attack. Morris enjoyed a decent run of matches after arriving but never managed to make the number nine position his own.

Injuries disrupted his progress at key stages of the season. The arrivals of Khanyisa Mayo and Etiosa Ighodaro also pushed him further down the pecking order.

His only goal for Amakhosi came against former club Sekhukhune United late in the campaign. It ultimately proved to be his final contribution for the club.

DURBAN CITY FC MOVE?

Although his spell at Kaizer Chiefs was brief, Morris remains one of the most experienced strikers in the Betway Premiership.

The Mitchells Plain-born forward previously represented Ajax Cape Town, Cape Town City, Sekhukhune United, and SuperSport United. He also represented South Africa at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Now a free agent, Morris is hotly linked with a move to Durban City FC to reunited with former coach Khalil Ben Youssef.
