The MTN8 semi-final draw was conducted on Sunday, with Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates avoiding each other in the last four.
Following Kaizer Chiefs’ elimination by Golden Arrows, the draw was conducted immediately after the match at FNB Stadium.
The four semi-finalists are Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, Sekhukhune United and Golden Arrows.
The Buccaneers edged out Durban City 2-1 in the first quarter-final on Saturday, while Sundowns needed extra time to overcome Polokwane City 3-2.
Sekhukhune United booked their place in the semi-finals with a 3-2 victory over AmaZulu before Golden Arrows completed the line-up with a 1-0 win over Chiefs.
Chiefs out of the MTN8
The draw has handed Sekhukhune United a home first leg against defending champions Orlando Pirates.
In the other semi-final, Sundowns will host Golden Arrows in the first leg at home.
Pirates and Sundowns will go into the semi-finals as the favourites to reach the final, with the two South African giants having previously met in the 2023 MTN8 final. Pirates eventually lifted the trophy after winning on penalties.
However, neither Golden Arrows nor Sekhukhune United will be easy opponents, having already shown their ability to upset more fancied teams in the competition.
The likelihood is that either Pirates or Sundowns will reach the MTN8 final, setting up the possibility of another heavyweight clash between the two giants.
The dates, venues and kick-off times for the semi-final first and second legs will be announced by the Premier Soccer League.
