Former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has sent his well wishes to the current generation of Bafana stars ahead of their clash with South Korea.
Mosimane was assistant to Carlos Alberto Parreria during the 2010 FIFA World Cup on home soil and then took over but failed to qualify Bafana for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations as head coach.
However, he then had his personal redemption at club level, becoming one of Africa’s most successful coaches after winning the CAF Champions League thrice – in 2016 with Mamelodi Sundowns, and in 2019/20 and 2020/21 with Al Ahly.
The 61-year-old who is currently without a coaching job has been linked as potential successor to Hugo Broos once the Belgian steps down after the World Cup.
However, for now, Mosimane has shared his well wishes with the current crop of players ahead of the crucial final Group A match against Korea.
“As Bafana Bafana proudly carry the hopes of a nation onto the global stage, we salute their dedication and commitment to representing South Africa with pride,” he stated on social media.
“Wishing the team and technical staff all the very best ahead of their last group stage game at the FIFA World Cup clash against the Republic of Korea.
“May you play with courage, unity, and the fighting spirit that defines our nation.”
