Relebohile Mofokeng has revealed that he knew about his transfer to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise well before the end of last season.
The Bafana Bafana international completed his move to the Belgian Pro League champions after helping South Africa reach the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during an interview with SNAWA on Metro FM, Mofokeng disclosed that discussions over his move had started before the tournament.
The 21-year-old former Orlando Pirates star admitted he already knew he would be heading to Europe several weeks before the campaign concluded.
WHEN MOFOKENG FOUND OUT
“[I knew about it] before the World Cup, I knew maybe three games before the season ended,” said Mofokeng during the interview with SNAWA on Metro FM.
The talented attacker said his decision was driven by his desire to continue improving both on and off the pitch. “As a young player, as a growing human being, you want to go to a place where you’ll grow and develop,” he added.

Mofokeng believes Royale Union Saint-Gilloise offers the ideal environment to take the next step in his career. He also sees the move as a platform to eventually secure an even bigger opportunity in European football.
“So, I think it’s the best place where I can develop myself and move forward. It’s a great start in Europe,” he added.
“It will develop me and help me grow as a person. Yeah, I think they will make me a better player and person and from there maybe I can get a bigger deal in Europe.
“So, it’s a very good step for me,” Mofokeng concluded.
