Chiefs star Mako returns home after breaking his arm
Left-back Paseka Mako will miss the start of the new season after fracturing his arm during a pre-season friendly match in Spain.
“Kaizer Chiefs’ pre-season preparations in Spain, led by coach Fernando Da Cruz, are progressing well as the team gears up for the new campaign. However, defender Paseka Mako has suffered a setback after fracturing his forearm during Tuesday’s friendly match against Al Khalood.” the club confirmed.
Kaizer Chiefs look to make a profit on Lilepo
Chiefs spent €500 000 (approx. R9,3 million) to bring Glody Lilepo to Kaizer Chiefs from French third-tier side Valenciennes in January 2025. Roughly 18 months later, the club looks set to sell the 28-year-old for almost double that amount. Moroccan giants AS FAR are keen to sign the Congolese star for a rumoured R16.5 million, who has become one of the club’s most reliable operators, so a sale would be somewhat of a surprise. He bagged five goals and four assists in 27 league outings last term in a mostly wide attacking role.

Sunday’s showpiece will be the first time the reigning European champions have met the Copa América holders in a World Cup final. Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish side has been excellent all tournament. They’ve conceded just once and have yet to fall behind in a match. They’ve bagged eight goals from the 85th minute onwards in this tournament – a World Cup record. They’ll be appearing in their seventh final; only Germany has appeared in more (eight).
