Mamelodi Sundowns’ final fixture date change CONFIRMED
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed a key schedule change for their final match of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season as they close in on a historic ninth consecutive league title.

This season’s title would be a 16th success for the Tshwane giants in what is the 30th season since the PSL profession era kicked off in the 1996/97 season.

The Brazilians, who currently lead the standings with 64 points – five ahead of nearest challengers Orlando Pirates – have three matches remaining and can seal the title by winning all of them.

Blockbuster clash

Their run-in begins with a blockbuster clash against Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday, 6 May at 19:30.

They will then host Siwelele FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday, 9 May (17:30) before concluding their campaign away to TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday, 12 May at 19:30.

The final fixture was initially scheduled for 16 May, but has been brought forward due to Mamelodi Sundowns’ commitments in the CAF Champions League final.

Packed schedule

By the time they complete their league campaign, Mamelodi Sundowns will have played seven matches in just 21 days – a demanding stretch that underlines the challenge of competing on both domestic and continental fronts.

Their early finish also means they will not participate in the final round of league fixtures scheduled for Saturday, 23 May, disrupting the usual format where all teams play simultaneously to ensure fairness.

Title within reach

If results go their way, Masandawana could lift the league trophy under the floodlights in Mbombela, capping another dominant domestic campaign.

It could of course be sooner than that if Orlando Pirates drop points in their upcoming matches.

Following the conclusion of their league duties, the Tshwane giants will shift full focus to their CAF Champions League final against AS FAR, with the first leg set for Sunday, 17 May in Pretoria and the return leg in Rabat on Sunday, 24 May.
