Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has explained why it took Nkanyiso Shinga eight months to make his debut for Amakhosi.
Shinga, 25, finally made his first Amakhosi appearance in the 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay on Tuesday evening.
With several defensive absentees, Shinga was finally given a chance to prove himself in the black and gold jersey, with Kaze explaining the player needed to get used to his new surroundings after joining from Portugal.
“He’s a new player in the country, he’s a player that has not played in the PSL,” he stated after the match.
“He needs to train well to get used to the league, to get used to his teammates too, we thought it was the right moment to introduce him.”
Shinga’s debut, though, was cut short after he had to be taken off with an injury in the 82nd minute, with Kaze stating he had not received an update on the severity.
“I haven’t spoken to the medical stuff, we’re going to assess him tonight and tomorrow morning we’re going to see the extend of the injury,” he added.
Chiefs, who dropped to fifth place on the Betway Premiership log, only return to action on 15 March when they will face fourth-placed Durban City.
