Kaizer Chiefs will come up against several familiar faces during the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
Three former Amakhosi players have already completed moves to PSL rivals following their departures from Naturena.
George Matlou this week became the latest former Kaizer Chiefs player to join a new club after signing for Stellenbosch FC.
“George is a player we believe can add real value to our squad through his experience, technical ability and understanding of the game,” Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie said.
“His pedigree speaks for itself, and we are naturally pleased that he has chosen to continue his career with Stellenbosch FC. We believe he can play an important role in helping us achieve our objectives this season,” he added.
Season-long loan
Fiacre Ntwari was the first former Glamour Boy to join another Betway Premiership club after the Rwanda international goalkeeper completed a season-long loan move to newly-promoted Kruger United.
Thereafter, Tashreeq Morris joined Durban City after leaving Naturena.
“I am delighted to be joining Durban City FC and to become part of this exciting project. The club has shown great ambition, and I am looking forward to contributing my experience, working hard for the team, and helping us achieve our objectives this season,” Morris told the media after completing his move.
Kaizer Chiefs are set to face all three former players during the upcoming Betway Premiership campaign.
MORE MOVEMENT EXPECTED AT NATURENA
Kaizer Chiefs have already completed eight first-team squad changes ahead of the new season.
The club has signed Thabo Moloisane from Stellenbosch FC and Renaldo Leaner from Sekhukhune United.
Meanwhile, Aden McCarthy (Sabah FC), George Matlou (Stellenbosch FC), Happy Mashiane, Tashreeq Morris (Durban City), Fiacre Ntwari (Kruger United) and Gastón Sirino have all departed Naturena.
However, further changes could still follow before the transfer window closes on 22 September.
The Glamour Boys are currently on a pre-season tour of Spain.
Meanwhile, Ashley du Preez has been linked with a possible return to Stellenbosch FC.
“The club and Du Preez’s representatives are in engagements to find a solution, with a loan being considered, but that will depend on how much of the financial load the club signing him wants to take for his package,” KickOff reported.
