Kaizer Chiefs have already strengthened their squad with four new signings this transfer window, but more arrivals could still be on the way. If that happens, further departures from Naturena are expected before the window closes.
‘s new recruits for the 2026/27 season include striker Khanyisa Mayo from CR Belouizdad, defender Thabo Moloisane from Stellenbosch FC, goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner from Sekhukhune United, and Tanzanian midfielder Adolf Bitegeko.
The Soweto giants have already released Happy Mashiane, George Matlou, Gaston Sirino and Tashreeq Morris as they continue reshaping the squad under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz.
Here are three players who could also leave Kaizer Chiefs before the transfer window shuts.
Ashley Du Preez
Ashley Du Preez has struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter during his four years at Naturena, despite producing flashes of brilliance.
One of his standout moments in Chiefs colours came when he scored a memorable brace in the Soweto Derby. However, injuries and inconsistent form have prevented him from becoming the club’s first-choice striker.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a return to Stellenbosch FC, with reports suggesting winger Langelihle Phili could move in the opposite direction as part of a potential swap deal.
Kaizer Chiefs to part ways with Cele?
Thabo Cele
Thabo Cele quickly became a fan favourite after joining Kaizer Chiefs in January 2025. His composure on the ball, accurate passing and ability to control the midfield made him an important player under former coach Nasreddine Nabi.
However, his role diminished following the arrival of Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze to the technical team, with Cele often having to settle for appearances off the bench.
The 28-year-old also missed much of the club’s pre-season preparations, and under new coach Fernando Da Cruz, he appears to have fallen down the pecking order.
Samkelo Zwane
Samkelo Zwane spent last season on loan at Siwelele FC alongside Happy Mashiane. While Mashiane has since left the club, Zwane’s future at Chiefs remains uncertain.
The midfielder struggled for regular game time before his loan spell, and with Kaizer Chiefs boasting several options in central midfield, breaking into the starting line-up this season could prove difficult.
Unless the situation changes, another loan move or a permanent departure may be the most likely outcome for the 23-year-old before the transfer window closes.
