Kaizer Chiefs have yet to make any major moves in the transfer market ahead of the 2026/27 season but there are Bafana Bafana stars avaialble to sign.
Since the transfer window opened on 1 July, the Soweto giants have added only Renaldo Leaner and Thabo Moloisane to their squad, while Khanyisa Mayo has completed a permanent move to Naturena.
With the new campaign set to begin in just two weeks, Chiefs still have time to bolster their squad.
Kaizer Chiefs could look into a few Bafana stars
Here are three Bafana Bafana stars who could strengthen Fernando Da Cruz’s side if the club decides to pursue them.
Percy Tau
Percy Tau is currently a free agent after parting ways with his Vietnamese club, making him an attractive option for Amakhosi.
The experienced Bafana attacker would add quality, creativity and leadership to Chiefs’ frontline. Having featured regularly in CAF competitions during his career, Tau’s experience could also prove invaluable as the Glamour Boys prepare for their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Tshegofatso Mabasa
Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has been heavily linked with a move to Naturena following his departure from the Buccaneers in June.
The 29-year-old would bring proven goalscoring ability and valuable experience to Chiefs’ attack. His winning mentality and familiarity with the demands of South African football could make him an important addition, while regular game time at Kaizer Chiefs could also boost his chances of returning to the Bafana Bafana squad.
Sphephelo Sithole
Sphephelo “Yaya” Sithole remains under contract with Portuguese side Tondela, but the midfielder has previously indicated that he would be open to returning to South Africa.
Sithole has also spoken positively about Kaizer Chiefs, suggesting the club would be an ideal destination should he decide to come home.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder would add energy, composure and quality in midfield, with his experience in European football potentially taking Chiefs to another level if a move were to materialise.
