Kaizer Chiefs to host ZESCO United in Durban

Fresh from securing a vital away victory in the Betway Premiership, Kaizer Chiefs will shift their focus to continental football when they host Zambian side ZESCO United in a CAF Confederation Cup Group D clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Amakhosi claimed three crucial points on Wednesday night in Bloemfontein, defeating Marumo Gallants 1-0 to continue their positive start to 2026.

Boosted confidence

The victory has boosted confidence ahead of another important test, this time on the African stage.

Kaizer Chiefs and ZESCO last met just a week ago in Ndola, where the Soweto giants recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win on matchday 3 of the group stages.

That result earned Amakhosi their first three points in Group D and kept them firmly in contention for qualification.

In the group’s other fixture, Egyptian heavyweights Al Masry and Zamalek played to a goalless draw in Egypt. The two sides are set to meet again this weekend, a result which could have a significant impact on the group standings.

At the halfway mark of the group stage, Al Masry lead Group D with seven points, followed by Zamalek on five. Kaizer Chiefs occupy third place with four points, while ZESCO United remain at the bottom of the group without a point.

Tickets on sale

A win on Sunday would strengthen Kaizer Chiefs’ push for a place in the knockout rounds and mark their fourth consecutive victory across domestic and continental competitions this year.

Tickets for the match are available for R80 at Computicket outlets, including Shoprite and Checkers stores nationwide, as well as online.

Supporters are expected to turn out in numbers as the Glamour Boys look to make home advantage count.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.

Prediction

Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 ZESCO United
