Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their midfield with the signing of Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko this week.
The 27-year-old joins Amakhosi from Tanzanian side Azam FC for an undisclosed fee, becoming the club’s third signing of the transfer window after Renaldo Leaner and Thabo Moloisane.
Chiefs recently concluded a two-week pre-season training camp in Spain under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz, who used the tour to assess his squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Attention now shifts to the Toyota Cup this weekend, where supporters are expected to get their first glimpse of several new arrivals, including Moloisane and Bitegeko, when Amakhosi take on Zimbabwean outfit Scotland FC.
With the new additions boosting key areas of the squad, here’s how Kaizer Chiefs’ strongest starting XI could look.
Goalkeeper
Brandon Petersen remains the club’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper after an impressive campaign last season. However, new signing Renaldo Leaner will be eager to challenge for the No. 1 jersey and provide healthy competition throughout the season.
Defence
Thabo Monyane is expected to start at right-back ahead of Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons.
In central defence, Thabo Moloisane could form a solid partnership with Miguel Inacio, while Bradley Cross is likely to continue at left-back after establishing himself as one of the team’s most consistent performers.
Midfield
New signing Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko is expected to slot straight into the starting XI. His defensive qualities and ability to control the tempo should complement the experience of Lebohang Maboe in midfield.
With the duo providing balance and protection, Mduduzi Shabalala would have greater freedom to operate in an advanced role, where his creativity and attacking instincts can have the biggest impact.
Attack
Kaizer Chiefs are still searching for a proven striker before the transfer window closes, but the current front three is expected to feature Wandile Duba and Asanele Velebayi on the wings.
Flavio Silva is likely to lead the line as the lone striker, although the club could still strengthen that position before the start of the new Betway Premiership season.
