Da Cruz to stick with tried-and-tested 3-4-3 system
Da Cruz will persist with his 3-4-3 system, utilising Pule Mmodi as a left wing-back. Young attacking trio Duba, Vilakazi and Shabalala are likely to start again. Meanwhile, Lebohang Maboe has been starring as a midfield playmaker alongside the industry of Siphesihle Ndlovu, who has also shown glimpses of creativity in the final third. 31-year-old Maboe knows his way around a football pitch and has a goal and two assists in the league already.

Chiefs gear up for a test against Polokwane City
The Glamour Boys remain unbeaten after five Betway Premiership outings and will be eager to keep that run going under coach Da Cruz. Last time out, they beat Siwelele 3-2 with Mfundo Vilakazi and Wandile Duba among those on the score sheet. Lebo Maboe and Mdu Shabalala assisted Vilakazi and Duba’s strikes respectively. Polokwane have made an indifferent start to the season, winning only once, drawing three matches and losing the other. Polokwane vs Chiefs kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday, 12 September.
What’s going on with Mayo?
Striker Khanyisa Mayo is on the comeback trail after training for Kaizer Chiefs in preparation for the club’s 3-2 win over Siwelele. However, the former Cape Town City man wasn’t in the matchday squad. Perhaps this is a hint that he’s not yet match fit, but is approaching full fitness gradually. Long-term absentees, Thabiso Monyane and Langelihle Phili, won’t make the trip.
