Kaizer Chiefs rising star Mduduzi Shabalala has landed another major commercial milestone after joining PUMA South Africa’s football family.
The 21-year-old midfielder has also been unveiled as the face of the local campaign for the highly anticipated PUMA ULTRA 7 football boot.

Announcing the partnership, PUMA South Africa welcomed the talented playmaker to the brand. “Welcome to the PUMA fam, Mduduzi Shabalala.”
The endorsement marks another significant achievement in Shabalala’s growing career, both on and off the pitch.
Born in Soweto on 20 January 2004, Shabalala began his football journey at Lenasia Football Academy before catching the eye at a Nike Football Centre.
His performances earned him a move to the Kaizer Chiefs academy, where he quickly established himself as one of the club’s brightest young talents. He also attracted interest from European clubs, including Villarreal CF and KVC Westerlo.
STAR CONTINUES TO GROW
Shabalala made his senior debut for Kaizer Chiefs against Moroka Swallows in May 2022 before signing his first professional contract a month later.
The attacking midfielder has since become a key player for Amakhosi, earning praise for his creativity, close control and ability to unlock stubborn defences. He has also represented South Africa at U17, U20 and U23 level.
Away from football, Shabalala has become one of the country’s most marketable young athletes. He previously enjoyed a successful partnership with Nike South Africa, while also securing ambassador roles with Markham, Emporio Armani and Coca-Cola.
His latest move sees him switch from Nike to PUMA, with the long-term agreement making him one of the leading faces of the brand’s football division in South Africa ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.
