Kaizer Chiefs send goalkeeper on loan to Motsepe Championship side
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed their first player departure of the January transfer window after they decided to send goalkeeper Bontle Molefe out on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.

Molefe, 23, will join up with little-known Motsepe Foundation Championship side Leicesterford City FC who are based in Mpumalanga.

Quiet transfer window

In doing so, he becomes their first official first team departure in an otherwise quiet transfer window for the high-flying Soweto giants.

“Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bontle Molefe will be joining Leicesterford City FC on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season,” Kaizer Chiefs announced.

The move serves as part of Amakhosi management’s greater plan of giving their emerging talent more game time in order to develop and grow as players.

“This loan move forms part of the club’s broader strategy to ensure that its promising emerging talent gains valuable game time and the experience required to thrive at the highest level of the sport.

“We are confident that this opportunity will help Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy (KCYDA) product, Bontle, sharpen his skills further and continue his growth as a professional footballer. We also believe he will use the experience he has gained over the years in the reserve league (DDC) to contribute towards helping Leicesterford compete for promotion to the Betway Premiership,” Kaizer Chiefs concluded.

MORE EXITS TO FOLLOW?

With the January PSL transfer window coming to an end, there are still one or two players who could be heading out of Naturena.

Fiacre Ntwari (goalkeeper) is perhaps the player most likely to leave Kaizer Chiefs.

The Rwandan goalkeeper fell out of favour with former Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi midway through last season.

Nothing has changed since then, with interim coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef also opting for Brandon Petersen in goal.

Petersen is now the club’s official captain, which makes it even more unlikely that Ntwari will see much game time in the First XI.

As a result, in order to save his career, it would be in his best interest to find a new club where he can play more regularly.

Meanwhile, this R4 million Kaizer Chiefs attacker is close to joining PSL rivals.
