Kaizer Chiefs news: Pitso, new CEO, five stars leaving?

Today’s Kaizer Chiefs news wrap looks at a potential need for a reshuffle of the pack and details emerging from Pitso Mosimane.

Kaizer Chiefs to say goodbye to five stars?

According to various reports, as many as seven senior players have their Kaizer Chiefs contracts expiring in June. They are Gaston Sirino, Khanyisa Mayo, Zitha Kwinika, Bruce Bvuma, Dillan Solomons, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Pule Mmodi. With Mayo showing glimmers of form and Mmodi always a useful guy to deploy in several attacking positions, the other five are likeliest to leave. Furthermore, the club is readying a new contract for Brandon Petersen.

Pitso explains Kaizer Chiefs connection

Legendary coach Pitso Mosimane has explained his inextricable connection to Kaizer Chiefs. The former Sundowns boss is perennially linked with Chiefs, whether there’s any legitimacy to those links.

Via FarPost:

“It’s a small world. Doc’s [Khumalo] father was the one putting me in the car. Football is a small world, and we belong to one family. It’s a big, but very small family,” said Mosimane.

“I’m part of the Kaizer Chiefs family because of my son. It’s a big, small family. My uncles, one played for [Orlando] Pirates, the other played for Chiefs, the one who trained Doc. It’s an ecosystem; we come from one place, one family.

“There are a lot of stories to tell from these things. We come from the township, we come from humble beginnings. Football gave us a chance to be people, to be recognised, to be acknowledged.

“Football saved us from the township. I’m not saying the township is not good; we belong there, my family is still there.”

New CEO at Kaizer Chiefs

Meanwhile, there’s a new Chief Executive Officer at Naturena.

“Kaizer Chiefs are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Bheki Shongwe as the new Group Chief Executive Officer of the Club, effective May 2026,” the club announced.

Check out a comprehensive run-down on Shongwe via Siseko Gwegwe.
