Kaizer Chiefs move season finale to a different city

Kaizer Chiefs’ Betway Premiership clash against Chippa United on 23 May has been moved from FNB Stadium to Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The fixture date and kick-off time remain unchanged, with the two sides still set to face off on Saturday, 23 May at 15:00.

AMAKHOSI AT MOSES MABHIDA

Kaizer Chiefs have quietly built a growing relationship with the Moses Mabhida Stadium this season, having already played three matches in Durban across different competitions.

It’s been a mixed but largely positive run for Amakhosi, two wins and one defeat, the latter coming in, a preseason friendly, coming on penalties.

Their Durban journey began back in July 2025 in the Toyota Cup. Kaizer Chiefs hosted Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko. It was a lively occasion with strong home support, but the Glamour Boys couldn’t get the job done in regulation time.

The match went to penalties, and that’s where things slipped, with Kotoko edging it 3–2 to deny Kaizer Chiefs silverware on home soil.

Fast forward to February 2026, and Amakhosi were back at the same venue, this time with continental business on the line. Facing Zesco United in a CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash, Amakhosi showed a more clinical edge.

Pule Mmodi stepped up with the only goal of the game, sealing a hard-fought 1–0 victory and givin Kaizer Chiefs a crucial boost in their African campaign.

Domestically, the Durban stop has also been kind to them. In March, the Glamour Boys hosted Magesi FC in a Betway Premiership fixture and delivered a composed 2–0 win.

Wandile Duba got things going in the first half, while Mfundo Vilakazi made sure of the result late on. Lebohang Maboe pulled the strings in midfield and walked away with the Man of the Match award after an assured display.
